Kiss Wall in Barcelona

Renovation and enhancement of the iconic Wall of the Kiss, located in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, a work created by Joan Fontcuberta with the collaboration of 4,000 local residents who contributed their images to be transferred onto tiles, forming the depiction of two lips kissing.

The wall was built to commemorate the tricentennial of Barcelona’s defeat on September 11, 1714. Initially intended as a temporary installation, its success led to its permanent preservation. The project also included the renovation of the adjacent garden and surrounding areas, with meticulous tile placement creating a space visited by thousands of people each year.
